Julian Velard returns to perform at The Shops of Water Street LIVE ON WATER Series this Labor Day Weekend

New York Pianoman and funny man, Julian Velard, returns to Princeton for what he calls his “annual Labor Day Show.” After touring around Europe and the U.S. with stops in Amsterdam, London and New York, Velard now keeps a permanent spot for Princeton on his tour schedule every year. Known as much for his stage presence as the music itself, Julian puts a modern twist on classic piano sounds with his “biting, 21st century wit.” New this year, Velard will be joined by friend and L.A. based musician, Alex Dezen. Dezen is best known for his work in the American Rock & Roll Group, The Damnwells, but is also a grammy-nominated songwriter, having worked alongside a wide range of artists - from The Dixie Chicks to Kelly Clarkson. Velard and Dezen will perform “writers in the round” style at The Fox Note (518 W. Water Street, Princeton). Tickets are $25 for general admission and $50 and up for VIP seating.

The Fox Note venue, formerly known for its world-class jazz performances has been reinvigorated by The Shops of Water Street as of this summer for their “Live on Water Street Series." After booking 3 initial shows for June, July and August, the response was so popular that the group has added additional dates this fall. Event co-coordinator Angela Zodrow enthusiastically explains, “Honestly, five minutes into the first show with The Guilty Wanted we just knew we needed to keep this going! We even joked during that show about whether or not we could pull something together for that next weekend.” Chicago Singer/songwriter Briar Rabbit, known mainly for his relationship as nephew to blues legend, B.B. King, will perform September 27. Later this Fall, a 5-person comedy improv show will perform on October 25 and on November 14, four East Coast singer/songwriters, performing as "The Parlor Sessions” will play in-the-round while a Wisconsin beer & cheese tasting is served. And plans are already in the works for next year's schedule.

The Shops of Water Street is a group of shop owners who live and work downtown Princeton. Their passion for Water Street can be seen throughout downtown with their efforts aimed at beautification and bringing new activity to the area. Proceeds from all shows will go towards funding projects and events on Water Street.
